hey shelby , my mom who is noe 60 has been clean since she was 40 she will tell you now that for many years she would think back and think about how good you think the drug was how good you felt what a great life you had then in an moment she would say but thats all they are fantasy . She says she just got tired and would look at other addicts who looked much worse then she did and said to her self i dont want to be like that when i get old . So she got clean now 20 plus years she said the best thing she remenbers is getting that job after being clean and getting her own money and paying that first bill all on her own at 40 and no one helped . She always says it finally dawned on her how much easier it was going to work and paying the bills then it was being cold hungry sick tired and just running the streets and how much work it was to live that way. I hope that as my son sits in rehab that he thinks of some of the things she has told him . And that she tells him you will always have an addictive personality and you will always be a recovering addict but the only thing you have to be active in is recovery and sobriety .
